ARTHUR WOOD English Staffordshire 1715 - 1981 originally produced earthernware teapots 1920s introduced bowls & vases 1950s expanded with jugs & tankards 1960-70s included mugs & piggy banks 1904 to 1928 trade name Arthur Wood Wood & Sons & H J Wood are part of the same dynasty 1865 - Formation of Wood & Sons End of 20th century saw the formation of HJ Wood Famous Designers:- 1912 - employed Frederick Rhead & his daughter Charlotte 1920 - employed E Radford 1930s - saw Susie Cooper becoming involved 1930s & again 1950s large production of toby jugs 1960s - Tony Wood 1982 - into receivership / Tony Wood opened his own Studio separately until 1991 Many Wood & Sons moulds were bought by Price-Kensington After receivership, taken over Yorke family and continued production until 2005 |
